Downtown Riverside Celebrates Fashion’s Night Out
RIVERSIDE, CALIF. — August 24, 2011 — Excitement is in the air as thousands of fashion enthusiasts from all over the Inland region are expected to be in attendance at the fashion extravaganza of the year—Fashion’s Night Out (FNO). Downtown Riverside celebrates Fashion’s Night Out is hosted by the Riverside Downtown Partnership (RDP) and takes place Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011 from 4-9 p.m. Activities include specials at local businesses, in-store retail promotions, entertainment, meet and greet of local fashion designers, product sampling, demonstrations, drawings, special guest appearances and more.
RDP is thrilled to be the host of ‘Downtown Riverside Celebrates Fashion’s Night Out’ and to be able to showcase our unique shops and restaurants,” said Janice Penner, executive director of the Riverside Downtown Partnership. “Fashion’s Night Out has spread from just New York City three years ago to 46 states and 60 cities in California alone, so this is part of a national fashion showcase but with a local focus. The event promises to be fun for not only fashionistas, but also for those who want to enjoy our wonderful ambiance downtown.”
FNO — collaboration between American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the City of New York, and participating cities — is intended to restore consumer confidence, boost the industry’s economy and put the ‘fun’ back in shopping.
Downtown Riverside Celebrates Fashion’s Night Out will kick-off with a Main Street Fashion Show produced by The Art Institute of California-Inland Empire in the Civic Plaza block on Main between University and Mission Inn and showcasing the latest fashion trends from 6-7 p.m. A special surprise opener of the Fashion Show will feature some of Riverside’s notable ladies. Confirmed special celebrity guests include the beautiful and talented Lisa Foiles, former Radio Disney child star who starred in Nickelodeon’s “All That” and can be seen in an upcoming thriller “Shiver”. Also, KGGI radio personality, Evelyn Erives and the promotion team will be in on hand to meet and greet the audience, and Fashion Stylist Devon Poer.
Fashion treats await attendees from 4-9 p.m. as they are invited to pop in and out of boutiques and salons for FNO retail specials, beauty makeovers, how-to’s, product sampling music and more at the following participants: Boyd’s on Main, Delights and
Invites, Cruz Custom Tailors, Don Carlos Hair Design, DragonMarsh, House of Flames, Kelly’s Boutique, Magnolia’s, Manhattans of Riverside Salon and Spa (who are also the official stylists for the Main Street Fashion Show), Mardon Jewelers, Mission Galleria, MP Couture, Old Glory, Mrs. Tiggy Winkles, The Parrott/T. Elliott Studio, Purple Tiger Couture, Soul Dout Clothing and Accessories, Toni Moore Clothing, and Wendie Monrroy on Main.
Entertainment will be enjoyed throughout the event on all four blocks including jazz, vocalists, dance performers and more! Attendees can also feel like a star for a day by taking photos on the red carpet at the photo station located in the Civic Plaza block. Programs will be distributed detailing full information on the event activities.
In addition, Fashion Alley located in the Culver ArtsBlock on Main Street at Ninth will have a select number of vendors including certain downtown businesses with fashion merchandise such as handmade jewelry, artisan items, apparel, and more.
The celebration will continue from 9-11 p.m. with drink specials, entertainment, DJs and fun at the following after party locations: Phood on Main, Crescent Jewell, Menagerie, Worthington’s Tavern, The Hideaway Bar, and Back to the Grind.
